Colorado Youth Development

I am wondering if anyone out there has an information on fatherhood programs for youth. I currently teach Nurturing Parenting for teen parents here in Walsenburg, but it is usually only the girls that come to class. It is open to both boys and girls, but it seems parenting info is thought of as a girl thing. I would love to be able to start a fatherhood program for the boys, I even have a man willing to teach it-my husband! I am also wanting information on other programs geared toward boys. We have programs for girls, but the boys are left out. Any ideas on programs you do or have heard of would be great! And of course, any ways to fund these new programs would be awesome too!

Hi Rachel!
This is a great question to pose to the group! I know a couple folks working on a similar program to engage young males in parenting classes. I think some of them are on this site and you can contact them directly through the ning - Dynamic Diversity Consulting; Scott Bates at CDPHE; and Pueblo Catholic Charities (see www.pueblocharities.org if they aren't already on the ning).
Please let me know if I can help connect you to folks.
